8 Structures on I-75

This design-bid-build project consisted of work on eight bridges on northbound and southbound I-75 from the Ohio state line to Erie Road in Monroe County, MI. C.A. Hull’s project team reconstructed six of the eight structures and provided rehabilitation work to the remaining two with a bridge deck overlay. The scope of work also included over five miles of roadway reconstruction, bridge barrier replacement, and approach work.
Work on this project was completed in two stages. The first stage included the demolition and reconstruction of all northbound I-75 structures along with the construction of a flyover at southbound Summit Street. The second stage of the project included the demolition and reconstruction of all southbound I-75 structures along with the construction of a flyover at northbound Summit Street.
Deep excavation and earth retention methods were required on this project including the excavation of two cofferdams in order to perform foundation work under the Halfway Creek near the Ohio border.
