Chene & Gratiot Avenue over I-94

2018 – 2019

  • Total Project Investment: $23 million
  • Location: Detroit, MI

This design-bid-build project consisted of the reconstruction of two structures and the removal of three pedestrian bridges in Detroit, MI. C.A. Hull was responsible for all demolition of existing structures and bridge reconstruction. Our project team was also responsible for all approach work on I-94 under M-3 (Gratiot Avenue), under Chene Street, and under the three pedestrian structures.

The project was completed in six stages from demolition to construction and included the construction of an open-graded drainage course (OGDC) to provide a stable base for the paving operation and positive drainage for the completed pavement structure.

All mainline work on this project was performed during four freeway closures. 9,213 cubic yards of concrete were used to complete this project along with 6,270 square feet of surface coating.
